Hi Ron.
I could not believe that was john Coltrane playing what looks like a clarinet, He was the greatest jazz saxophonist of all. 1927 to 1967.

You young whipper-snappers. There has not been good jazz since Duke and Satchmo.

ps 72 today!

Hawk,

These guys played them all - not like most of today's musicians who can only play one or two instruments!

thanks for coming by!

Sinann,

Congrats on your birthday.

It is true that John Coltrane (1926-1967) was about 25 years younger than Satchmo (1901-1971) and Duke Ellington (1899-1974) they were still contemporaries - I am sure Coltrane saw his elders as models and teachers.

thanks for coming by - have a great day!

Miss Lou,

I think I am having a great weekend so far -

went to a wonderful 'salon' last night - about 20 therapists contemplated art and therapy over some nice food - it was a very productive evening

This morning got up early and cut the lawn in the backyard and watered some plants and did some meditation and reading

Then went to a 3 hour meeting with about 6 therapists and discussed challenging and interesting cases

Now I am home and sorting files - which I seldom have time to do - and I find this both relaxing and productive

hope you are having a nice weekend too

Sinann thought that the old guys (who were were about 25 years older than Coltrane) were the 'real' jazz guys. I think Coltrane added to what he learned from then - life is always a growth experience and Coltrane helped Jazz mature in his way

A bunch of you all have no taste at all. The world is going to hell in a handbasket. How can you go to hell in a handbasket, anyway?

Alice Coltrane, his wife, cut two albums that I know of after his death.
One was very beautiful and was reflective of her faith.
